Saving Files To A CD-R/RW DiscSTEP 1 – With the document open that you would like to save, click on File > Save. Choose "Desktop" as drive and then choose the folder "SAVE to CD-R."
STEP 2 – Information Balloon appears in lower right corner. Click on the yellow balloon if you are ready to burn your disc, or continue to add other files to the directory. When you click on the yellow balloon, you will see the files ready to be saved to the CD-R disc. If you see files left by other users in this directory, delete them so they will not be saved onto your CD-R disc.
STEP 3 – Insert your CD-R/RW disc into the CD drive on the computer. Open My Computer, then double-click on the CD Drive icon. You will see all the files ready to be saved onto the CD-R disc. Click on File, then select Write These Files to CD. At this point, the CD Writing Wizard will appear.
Follow the directions on the CD Writing Wizard to finish the process. Important Points To Consider: 1. It is always best to work with copies of your files when burning your CD-R disc. This is because any documents left on the computers are routinely and automatically deleted. 2. You can also save and/or backup files to the floppy A: drive or to a flashdrive. You do not need to use the procedure described in this document to save files to those devices. 3. This process uses the native Windows XP CD writing technology built into the operating system. No third party CD writing software is installed on library computers.
